just came back from spending the night in the city. It was fun...we had a hotel room to go back to and rest and we ate at Signature and had terrific seats so I could see out over the lake. Signature is way too overpriced though, for the quality of food that we get. Solution: Eat at Subway beforehand and then go just for the deserts. Michigan Avenue is too busy. But the lake is gorgeous...I was over at Millenium Park, and the orchestra was playing and I was walking over the awesome bridge...and then I saw the metal tiling stuff on the bridge, and then I thought of the Stata Center. I don't like Frank Gehry's designs. Except for the bridge. My prediction: This winter, kids are going to try to snowboard on it, and when I come back in the spring, there will be signs posted saying that snowboarding/skateboarding on the bridge is prohibited.

Robie House was ok. I liked some of the design elements, but I thought it felt sort of cramped...probably because the ceilings are so low, since the house is big. My mom's taking me up to Wisconsin next week, and I really wanted to see Taliesin, except that the tours are ridiculously priced...to see the green grass, you have to pay $16. To see the house, you have to pay $45. To see the studio, you have to pay $75. To see the entire estate, you have to shell out $85. Rip off. Except that I really want to see it.

dude, come to PA and see Fallingwater instead. it's pretty and i don't recall it being that expensive. $85 is nuts for an estate tour, even if it is Taliesin.

Oh, believe me, I'd love to. Of his houses, it's my very favorite design.

where are you?

What? Do you say Michigan Avenue? Where are you?!?! Michigan? You better hope not, because you didn't come and visit me! *pout* meanie. Ahh... nevermind. You're in Chicago eh? (Millenuim Park! ^_^) Oops. Oh well, have fun, okay? But if you have time, come drop by little ol' Amy in the good ol' mitten state. And then we can drive all the way up north to Traverse City (it's so beautiful) and Mackinac Island. You can see the pretty pretty beach for free!!! Haha.

Re: where are you?

*pout* back. Amy, my love, I can't believe you thought I'd visit Michigan without calling you up first! :)

Come visit me too (or just Chicago)!

"I don't like Frank Gehry's designs"

However, it does look pretty cool at night when the stagelights reflect.

hmmm. I'd have to agree with you on that. His buildings are cool, granted, but terribly terribly inefficient. Maybe he worked that into effect too, although I'm guessing that he just concentrates only on design and not enough on function.

Yeah, and Chip thinks that it looks like he took a piece of scissors to a ribon and scanned it into the computer...though I'm inclined to think more highly of it than *that*.
